Our house, situated in a quiet location, stands on a plot of approximately 1,700 square meters with a large play and sunbathing area and a garden grill.
Mauth/Finsterau (700–1,300 m) is a state-recognized resort and winter sports destination, located directly adjacent to the Bavarian Forest/Bohemian Forest (Šumava) National Park in the heart of the “Green Roof of Europe,” one of Germany’s most beautiful and unspoiled landscapes.
The herb-growing community of Finsterau serves as a starting point in summer for many beautiful excursions and hikes, including cross-border trips:
to the Czech Republic and Austria
to the three-river city of Passau
to the wildlife and enclosure area in the national park
on the world’s longest treetop walk at the Lusen National Park Center in Neuschönau
to our local mountains, the Rachel and Lusen
In winter, Mauth/Finsterau offers cross-country skiers the longest network of trails in Bavaria, with over 120 km, and 50 km of cleared winter hiking trails, which are also ideal for snowshoeing.
A wide variety of events take place year-round at the Finsterau Open-Air Museum.
A special bonus is our NATIONAL PARK CARD, which you’ll receive upon arrival and can use in many ways:
free travel by bus & train in the national park region
